Going Deeper, Expanding Outward
What would it be like to have five days with nowhere else you needed to be?
Time to move. Time to rest. Time just for you.
To finish an Awareness Through Movement® lesson and not immediately have to get in the car, answer an email, make dinner, or turn your attention to someone else.
Instead, you can linger.
Enjoy an extraordinary meal. Sit in the garden. Have a conversation. Take a nap. Let the lesson keep unfolding without life’s demands pulling you away.
And later, come back to the floor.
An Awareness Through Movement retreat with time to go deeper.
Over five days together, we’ll immerse ourselves in Awareness Through Movement, with three lessons each full day, plus other invitations to explore and reflect—individually, in small groups, and together as a community.
But we’re deliberately leaving plenty of space around all of it.
Because sometimes a lesson ends just when something interesting is beginning.
How we move gives us a remarkably intimate way of discovering how we meet ourselves and the world.
We’re interested in what becomes possible when we have enough time and space to attend more fully: to sense, to wonder, to notice familiar habits, and perhaps to discover possibilities we hadn’t recognized before.
The movements are the laboratory. Your life is where the learning matters.
And all of this takes place at Stowel Lake Farm—an exceptional retreat setting with beautiful gardens and grounds, a gorgeous movement hall, comfortable accommodations, and outstanding farm-to-table meals.
Come to move, explore, play, rest, connect, and give yourself time to find out what emerges.
Relax, rest, play, explore, and participate to your heart’s content.
Do as much or as little as you choose.
Each full day will offer:
3 Awareness Through Movement lessons
Guided invitations to explore and reflect—individually, in small groups, and together as a community
Plenty of spaciousness for rest, conversation, following your own curiosity, or simply being on your own
Time to enjoy the farm, gardens, and surrounding area
Opportunities for what happens in one lesson to settle, deepen, and inform what comes next
Exceptional vegetarian meals and lovely accommodations
Two Teachers, Shared Inquiry
Alice and Gisele share a deep interest in attention, embodiment, and the larger questions that can emerge through this work. Their teaching styles overlap, but their emphases differ in ways that enrich the retreat.
Alice brings a playful, spacious way of teaching that invites questions without rushing toward answers, makes room for creativity, and reflects a deep appreciation for what can emerge when we explore together in community.
Gisele is especially interested in the direction implicit in a lesson: not in finding one “right” answer, but in sensing the functional logic underneath it—what the lesson might reveal about expanding our capacity for movement that is more varied, responsive, and adaptable, and what that might make possible beyond the lesson itself.
“Every aspect of the week was nourishing to my soul, my body, and my heart. Laughter and learning. The beauty of movement. The beauty and peace of Stowel Lake Farm. The food, all of it, was delicious, nutritious, and it made people simply happy. A perfect setting for a week of Feldenkrais movements.”
