Gardening Workshop - Early Spring

Hosts: Meghan and the Farm Team.

Description: In this first workshop we will focus building gardens using a no-till, ecological focused approach. We will cover how we plan our gardens for continual successions throughout the season, as well as introduce some of the tools and techniques that we use to start our spring plantings and build healthy soil. This will include some hands-on demonstrations as well as touring portions of the garden to view and discuss beds already prepped and planted. We will discuss ways to create health, vibrancy and diversity in gardens particular to our region.

TOPICS:

  • Introduction to no-till gardening and the soil food web

  • How to begin a garden using minimum disturbance

  • Crop planning and preparation - how to determine planting dates and quantities, and plan for continual successions

  • Planning for diversity and soil health

  • Planning for garden infrastructure and maintenance

  • Greenhouses, how we begin the year with early and overwintering crops

Cost: $95 CAD or $420 CAD for all 5
