Gardening Workshop - Plant Support, Irrigation and Making Compost

Description: This month’s workshop is full of information and practical demonstrations to prepare you for easeful garden management as you move into the summer months. How to choose and build the right support structures for your plants (such as low tunnels, row covers, and trellising). We will talk about choosing the right irrigation system for your space and how to determine when and how much to water. We will share our cultivation and weed management strategies, and how we interplant our fields and beds with plants that attract beneficial and pollinating insects. We will cover how to make, manage and build compost.

  • How to choose the right irrigation for your space

  • Summer issues – bolting, watering, pest management, weed suppression, feeding your garden

  • Making and using compost
