Cultivating Your Light - A Summer Solstice Retreat

Hosts: Scott Davis and Carrie Watkins

Gather with us for a summer solstice retreat at the enchanting Stowel Lake Farm on Salt Spring Island, BC. Immersed in this stunning landscape, we will cultivate heart-centred practices that inspire the transition into the light of summer. Explore a balance of daily guided yoga, playful movement and restorative practices.

We'll have 3 classes a day (a morning yoga practice, a playful movement exploration, and a restorative afternoon session), eat delicious food, take forest walks, lake swims, explore local beaches and enjoy lots of space for quiet reflection. The practice sessions will meet you where you’re at with balanced yoga and movement for the whole body that will help you recalibrate and act as a form of compassionate self-inquiry.

Nourish your body and mind with locally grown organic meals, movement, opportunities for deep rest and time in nature. The Stowel Lake Farm is a thriving organic farm, retreat centre and active community hub on Salt Spring Island, the largest of the beautiful southern gulf islands of British Columbia.

Your Hosts:

Dr. Carrie Watkins, ND is a passionate educator. She is most interested in the ongoing relationship between anatomy, movement and psychology.  Carrie has been teaching yoga for over 17 years and is involved in anatomy, nervous system and breath education for Yoga Teacher Training and Yoga therapy programs on Vancouver Island. Her teachings balance the precision of functional movement with play and ease. Her sequences are designed to create greater possibilities, body intelligence and a stronger connection to the experience of movement.

In addition to being a yoga teacher and educator, Carrie is registered Naturopathic Physician and full-time teaching faculty at Pacific Rim College in the areas of Nutrition, Chinese Medicine and Anatomy.

When she is not teaching, you can find Carrie outside, deep in the woods or out on ocean, always exploring where her heart feels most alive.

Scott Davis, D. Acp has been sharing his passion for health as a yoga teacher, movement therapist, acupuncturist, Doctor of Chinese Medicine, and health educator for the past two decades. He integrates therapeutic traditions, contemporary approaches to health and the latest research in biomechanics and human movement in ways that are clear, accessible, fun and results-based with a balance of authenticity, humour and depth. His love of yoga started with a decade of ashtanga vinyasa yoga, while over the years growing his teaching with the alignment and precision of iyengar yoga, the balancing of qi gong and breathwork, the restful qualities of restorative and yin yoga, and more recently mobility work and functional movement to create a more comprehensive practice of movement aligned with the core principles of a well-rounded yoga practice..

When Scott is not teaching or treating patients in his clinic, he loves practicing movement of all kinds, playing in nature and spending time with his family.
